Throughout my skincare journey, I have used loads of different products, testing out all sorts of ingredients that I knew nothing of, or what they would do to my skin. It was definitely a learning experience, albeit an annoying and sometimes discouraging one. To commemorate this journey, I collected every single receipt, prescription paper, and package, and scrapbooked it as a creative outlet. This allows me to visually document my progress and the milestones that I encounter each day.

What I Include in My Scrapbook

I created a green colored scrapbook page highlighting brands like Cetaphil, Abib, and Beplain

After coming home from the dermatologist, I ripped up the packaging of my tretinoin, erythromycin, and a huge chunk of my Hero pimple patch box to scrapbook, symbolizing the day I started using prescription topicals for my acne.

  • Different Packaging: With each product that I buy, I collect, rip, and design their packaging to match the aesthetic of the scrapbook page.

  • Prescriptions: For any prescription treatments I've used, I include the actual prescription labels or a printed version. I find scrapbooking prescriptions especially important because the prescriptions were what really helped me reach my skin goals.

  • Receipts: I keep receipts from purchases, which not only helps with budgeting but also serves as a timeline of my skincare acquisitions.

Why I Scrapbook

I first began scrapbooking purely for creative expression with different products that I purchase, but as the majority of my expenses began centralizing itself around skincare, that is what ended up taking over my scrapbook.

  • Creative Expression: It lets me express my creativity through layouts, colors, and designs, making the process enjoyable.

  • Inspiration: Looking back at my scrapbook provides inspiration and motivation to continue taking care of my skin.

  • Education: By documenting my experiences, I can educate myself about ingredients, formulations, and what best suits my skin type.

  • Community Sharing: I found that through sharing my scrapbook pages on social media, I am not only able to creatively express myself, but can foster discussions regarding the products I use and habits I maintain while on my skincare journey.

Conclusion

Scrapbooking has become an integral part of my skincare journey, allowing me to celebrate my progress and learn from my experiences. It’s a beautiful way to reflect on my skincare evolution, and I look forward to continuing this creative documentation as I explore new products and treatments.
